Let's Ace Your Drama School Auditions.
Going for it this year? I've got your back.
If you're new here, welcome! My name's Mimi and I'm an actor and coach passionate about helping others navigate the drama school audition process in the UK (and abroad!). This page is mostly geared toward those auditioning in the UK, so if you're based in America, this page might be more helpful for you! I know firsthand that it can be a grueling and emotional experience, so it's my goal to help you craft compelling auditions that feel authentic to you, so the prospect of sharing your work is more exciting than daunting.
I find that we achieve the most success when we're auditioning from a place of ease, joy, and of course, confidence. So... how can we get you there, together?
What could Drama School audition coaching look like for you?
-
Free consultation Zoom call before you book anything! I'm a big believer in full transparency and open communication about what you need, how I work, and what your budget is and what my capabilities are to meet it. Any questions you got, lay 'em on me.
-
Once we've discussed your package, you've booked it and are ready to go, I'll send over a Welcome Email explaining everything you'll need to prep individually before we start coaching. This will include self reflective and journaling prompts geared toward helping you understand your "aces" as an actor and why you want to pursue this work, information about how to start looking for speeches yourself, and ideas to get you thinking about any of your written artistic statement(s) you might need to craft, and how to prepare for the dreaded (but very common!) "why do you want to go to drama school" type questions. ;)
-
We'll correspond over email about your material / speech choices. If and when you have some selected on your own, I'll give them a read and let you know my thoughts. If there's anything you need help sourcing... I got you. I'm sitting on a stockpile of unique and dynamic speeches that will help you shine.
-
Once we've shored up your material choices over email, we'll begin our agreed upon coaching sessions to actively prepare your pieces! Near the beginning of these sessions, we'll also take a look at the list of programs you're applying to and make sure that your speeches meet the length, style, and genre requirements of the schools on your list.
-
Once we've thoroughly coached your monologues, you can schedule a "mock audition." We'll go through interview questions you could be asked in the room and you'll present all your prepared pieces so you have practice running through all of them. I'll give you some re-directions and notes, too, so you get a sense of how you might need to adjust your speeches on the day, quick on your feet.
-
From there, it's about time for your auditions! You can always get in touch via WhatsApp and email if any questions come up or if you'd like to schedule any top up sessions.
But Mimi... why should I work with you?😅
Heard! Here's a quick look at my "credentials." ;)
Experienced Acting & Audition Coach
I founded my own private coaching studio in 2018 after training as a teaching artist and working with Broadway Artists Alliance of New York City. Since then, I have led workshops, classes, and private sessions for students all across the US and UK. I'm particularly passionate about providing a safe, constructive, and JOYFUL space for actors of all ages to work toward unlocking their best, most consistent, and authentic performances, with material they feel inspired to share.
LAMDA - MFA in Professional Acting
I went through the grad school audition process in 2021-2022 and recently completed my own MFA at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) - ranked consistently in the Hollywood Reporter's list of the top 10 best drama schools in the world. I was lucky enough to have some great options to choose from for my MFA and ultimately had a transformative 2 years in London. My coaching is also firmly rooted in the kind of techniques and practices you can expect to learn in drama school!
Monologue / Speech Specialist
Simply put - I read a lot of plays and constantly add to my stockpile of fantastic monologues for actors of all ages and backgrounds. My experience, too, as a writer and performer in my own right has given me unique insight into identifying my students' strengths and pairing it with the perfect pieces to help them stand out.
